A responsive web design project for a podcast channel
"How's Your Day?" is a website dedicated to an imaginary podcast channel. It provides comprehensive information about the channel, as well as an array of advanced features designed to enhance user engagement and interaction with the website.
Many podcast channels lack the resources to efficiently organize and maintain their information online, which reduces transparency and accessibility. Additionally, many of these websites often lack interactive components that can captivate users and immerse them as they navigate and engage with the content.
The primary objective of this project is to address a prevalent issue faced by many podcast channels: the lack of an efficient platform for organizing and making crucial information accessible to their users. Beyond serving as a resource hub, the platform will incorporate interactive features that aim to foster greater engagement and interaction between users and the website.
In order to gain a comprehensive understanding of the product's users, I conducted a series of interviews aimed at collecting qualitative data.
To identify the user pain points and desires, three semi-moderated interviews were conducted online.
Two usability tests were conducted in both modified and unmodified situations. And the followings are some major feedback from the participants on the low-fidelity prototypes.
Adding more different designs to increase the excitement of using the website.
Adding more pictures instead of displaying the text directly to the users to reduce the feeling of overwhelmed.
Instead of placing the photo and text side by side, making it flippable is more efficient and readable to the users.
Given that many podcast channels either lack a dedicated website for storing essential information or have websites with limited features and functionalities, this design stands out. It promises to significantly benefit new audiences by providing efficient and easy access to information. Additionally, it enhances the excitement and engagement of podcast listeners with the website, ultimately driving increased usage and interaction.
I gained valuable insights into Responsive Web Design (RWD) through this project, particularly in optimizing the layout for mobile devices, including the effective reorganization of images and text to enhance usability. Furthermore, this project provided me with valuable experience in selecting appropriate color palettes and establishing clear type hierarchies, enabling me to develop designs that prioritize accessibility for individuals with disabilities in future projects.
